Post-Punk

Post-punk on vinyl: from The Cure to Iceage

In short: Post-punk emerged in the late seventies when bands took the energy of punk and combined it with dub, funk, electronics and art – cooler, more angular, more experimental. The Cure, Joy Division and Gang Of Four shaped the sound; since the early 2000s new bands have taken up the sound again and again. The Vinyl Room currently has 30 post-punk records.

What is post-punk?

Driving bass, cutting guitars and voices between detachment and despair: The Cure are represented with the singles collection “Standing On A Beach”.

From the newer generation we have Iceage from Copenhagen with “Plowing Into The Field Of Love”, Viagra Boys from Stockholm with “Welfare Jazz” and “Cave World”. Plus Black Country, New Road from Britain and IOSONOUNCANE from Italy.
