SteepleChase Records

is a Danish jazz record label founded in 1972 by Nils Winther. Based in Copenhagen, it became known for capturing live performances from the city’s vibrant jazz scene—particularly at the famed Montmartre Jazzhus—featuring many American jazz musicians who found creative freedom in Europe.

Over the decades, SteepleChase has built a rich catalog of bebop, hard bop, and modern jazz, releasing albums from artists such as Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Jackie McLean, and Kenny Drew. The label is respected for its audiophile-quality recordings, dedication to artistic authenticity, and role in preserving important jazz performances for future generations.
