How often?

The Cure on vinyl: from post-punk to pop and back

In short: The Cure come from Crawley in England and were formed in the late seventies around singer and guitarist Robert Smith. Their music ranges from sparse post-punk through dark, wide soundscapes to playful pop songs – melancholy meets memorable hooks. The Vinyl Room currently has 5 records by The Cure.

What makes The Cure special?

The beginning was simple: “Three Imaginary Boys” (1979) shows the young band with short, angular songs. “Standing On A Beach” (1986) collects the singles of the early years, from “Boys Don’t Cry” to “In Between Days”.

On the double album “Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me” (1987) they explore a broad musical palette, from hard rock to “Just Like Heaven”. “Mixed Up” (1990) brings remixes of their hits, and “Entreat” captures songs from “Disintegration” live at Wembley Arena.
