Kent

Kent on vinyl: Swedish rock, sung in Swedish

In short: Kent from Eskilstuna were one of Sweden’s most successful rock bands for more than twenty years – with lyrics in Swedish, big melodies and a dark, melancholic sound. From the debut “Kent” (1995) to their farewell with “Då som nu för alltid” (2016), we have many of their albums on vinyl. The Vinyl Room currently has 22 Kent records.

What makes Kent special?

Singer Joakim Berg wrote songs about longing, coldness and new beginnings – and Kent turned them into stadium rock that still sounds intimate. They even recorded “Isola” (1997) in English as well, but remained a band you listen to in Swedish. “Vapen & ammunition” (2002) was their peak; later the sound became more electronic, for example on “Röd” and “Tillbaka till samtiden”. In 2016 the band said goodbye with a last album and a farewell tour.

Many Kent albums only came out on vinyl later or were reissued. Most of our records come from Scandinavia – where we can identify a first pressing for sure, it is marked with the copy.
