Erasure

Erasure on vinyl: synth-pop from Vince Clarke and Andy Bell

In short: Erasure are Vince Clarke and Andy Bell. Clarke had previously co-founded Depeche Mode and Yazoo, and in 1985 he found in Andy Bell the voice for his new duo. With “Sometimes”, “A Little Respect” and albums like “The Innocents”, Erasure became one of the great synth-pop bands. The Vinyl Room currently has 20 Erasure records, mostly from the eighties.

What makes Erasure special?

Vince Clarke writes melodies you can sing along to after one listen, and builds them from synthesizers – Andy Bell gives them warmth and drama. After the debut “Wonderland” (1986), “Sometimes” brought the first big hit, followed by “The Circus”, “The Innocents” with “A Little Respect”, “Wild!” and “Chorus”. As with Depeche Mode, the maxi is worth it with Erasure: almost every single came out on 12-inch with longer mixes – in our stock, for example, “Oh L’Amour”, “Who Needs Love Like That” and “Heavenly Action”.
