How often?

Britpop on vinyl: the guitars of the nineties

In short: Britpop dominated the British charts in the mid-nineties: guitar-driven pop looking back to the great British bands of the sixties and seventies. Blur, Oasis, Suede and Pulp were at its centre – in 1995 Blur and Oasis fought a famous battle for the top of the charts. The Vinyl Room currently has 18 Britpop records.

What is Britpop?

Big choruses and plenty of confidence: Oasis are represented with their debut “Definitely Maybe”, Blur with “Girls & Boys” and the album “Blur”, Suede with “Dog Man Star” and “Metal Mickey”.

Plus bands such as Salad, Babybird and Monaco, who helped shape the sound of the nineties. Under this label we also have later releases such as The Verve’s “Forth” and Doves’ “Some Cities”.

What to look for

Many Britpop albums also came out on vinyl in the nineties and were later reissued; label, catalogue number and year of release help you tell which edition you have – it’s noted with each copy.
