How often?

Blur on vinyl: from Britpop to experiment

In short: London’s Blur around Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon are regarded as one of the defining bands of nineties Britpop – with hits such as “Girls & Boys” and “Song 2”. After that they became more experimental, and Albarn also founded the band Gorillaz. The Vinyl Room currently has 6 Blur records.

What makes Blur special?

“Girls & Boys” (1994) comes from the “Parklife” era – danceable, ironic Britpop. With the album “Blur” (1997) the band turned towards American indie rock; “Song 2” is on it too.

“Think Tank” (2003) was recorded largely without guitarist Graham Coxon – he can still be heard on “Battery In Your Leg” – and sounds more electronic and cosmopolitan. The cover art is by street artist Banksy; we also have “Think Tank (Sampler)”.
