How often?

Southern rock on vinyl: guitars from the American South

In short: Southern rock emerged in the American South in the late sixties and early seventies and combines rock with blues, country and soul – often with two lead guitars. The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd were key bands; many bands released records on the Capricorn label in Macon, Georgia. The Vinyl Room currently has 14 Southern rock records.

What is Southern rock?

From the seventies: Wet Willie from Alabama are represented with their first album “Wet Willie”, alongside Bob Lance with “Rollin’ Man” and Stillrock.

Later generations: the Georgia Satellites from Atlanta are here with their debut “Georgia Satellites”, as are The Black Crowes, also from Atlanta; Tedeschi Trucks Band is represented with “Made Up Mind”, Alabama Shakes with “Boys & Girls”.
