What makes Solar special?

The label’s sound was shaped by producer Leon Sylvers III, himself a member of the family band The Sylvers – their album “Concept” also came out on Solar. He produced Shalamar, for example, who are here with “Three For Love”. The Whispers bring “Love Is Where You Find It” and “This Kind Of Lovin’”.

Lakeside from Ohio deliver the funk with “Shot Of Love” and “Fantastic Voyage”, Midnight Star the eighties electro-funk with “Victory” and “Work It Out”. Plus Babyface with “Tender Lover” – and “Deep Cover”, on which Dr. Dre introduced Snoop Doggy Dogg in 1992.
