What makes BBE special?

BBE compilations are like an evening with a connoisseur at the turntables. Keb Darge, the Scottish DJ behind the term “deep funk”, opens his crates of rare funk singles with “Legendary Deep Funk” and – together with Kenny Dope or Josh Davis aka DJ Shadow – “Funk Spectrum”.

Pete Rock shows his producer’s side on “Soul Survivor II”, Masters At Work celebrate ten years of house, and Jazzanova pay tribute to the Detroit jazz label Strata. Add the “Beats & Pieces” volumes, “Sister Funk” with female funk singers and Kev Beadle’s “Private Collection” with independent jazz from the seventies and eighties.
