How often?

Nostalgia 77 on vinyl: British jazz with soul and beats

In short: Nostalgia 77 is the project of British guitarist and producer Ben Lamdin. Since the 2000s he has been combining jazz with soul, folk and beats on the Tru Thoughts label – sometimes with his own band, sometimes with guest singers. The Vinyl Room currently has 5 records by Nostalgia 77.

What makes Nostalgia 77 special?

Jazz that sounds like crate-digging and the present at once: “Songs For My Funeral” shows the early, beat-driven side, while “Everything Under The Sun” and “The Garden” sound like a band in a room.

The project also became known for a jazzy version of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army”, sung by Alice Russell. Plus “The Sleepwalking Society”.
