RCA

RCA on vinyl: from Bowie to Foo Fighters

In short: RCA is the later form of the famous RCA Victor label – from the late sixties many records just say “RCA”. Under that name came David Bowie’s seventies albums, Lou Reed’s “Transformer” and Eurythmics, later Foo Fighters, Wu-Tang Clan and SZA. The Vinyl Room currently has 80 RCA records, above all rock and pop.

What makes RCA special?

Behind the short name lies the long history of RCA Victor – with Nipper the dog, the 45 rpm single and Elvis Presley. In the seventies RCA gave glam rock a home: David Bowie released “Hunky Dory” and “Ziggy Stardust” here, Lou Reed “Transformer”. The eighties brought Eurythmics with “Sweet Dreams”.

In 1986 Bertelsmann took over RCA’s music division; today RCA belongs to Sony Music – and it remains a label for guitars and big voices. Our stock shows it: several Foo Fighters albums, hip-hop from Wu-Tang Clan and A$AP Rocky, R&B from SZA and Khalid. And because RCA is strong in Scandinavia too, you’ll find a lot from the north with us: the Swedish band Kent, and MØ and Fallulah from Denmark.
