Eminem

Eminem on vinyl: Slim Shady from Detroit

In short: Eminem’s real name is Marshall Mathers, and he grew up in Detroit. Dr. Dre brought him to his label Aftermath in 1998, and with “The Slim Shady LP” from 1999 he became world-famous – with fast, intricate rhymes, biting humour and his alter ego Slim Shady. The Vinyl Room currently has 6 Eminem records.

What makes Eminem special?

Technique and wit: he rhymes densely and switches between roles and voices in a flash. “My Name Is” introduced him in 1999; on “Guilty Conscience” he trades verses with Dr. Dre.

“The Real Slim Shady” came out in 2000 as a single from the album “The Marshall Mathers LP”. Things get very quiet on “Mockingbird” from the album “Encore” (2004), a song for his daughters.
