Guajira

Guajira on vinyl: songs from the Cuban countryside

In short: The guajira is a song style from the Cuban countryside – a “guajiro” is a Cuban farmer. Typical are a calm, lilting rhythm and lyrics about landscape and everyday life. Later the guajira merged with son to form the guajira-son – the best-known example is “Guantanamera”. The Vinyl Room currently has 12 guajira records.
