Soul Jazz Records

Soul Jazz Records on vinyl: music history to play

In short: Soul Jazz Records from London makes compilations that often work like small books: many collections tell a chapter of music history, with detailed notes and photos – from revolutionary jazz via Brazilian bossa nova to early hip-hop from New York. The label is closely tied to the Sounds Of The Universe record shop in Soho. The Vinyl Room currently has 16 records from Soul Jazz Records.

What makes Soul Jazz Records special?

The themes: “Freedom Rhythm & Sound” connects sixties and seventies jazz with the civil rights movement, “Soul Jazz Love Strata-East” is devoted to the New York musicians’ label Strata-East, and “Can You Dig It?” to the music of Black action films.
