In short: FatCat Records grew out of a record shop and was founded as a British label in 1997 by Dave Cawley and Alex Knight. FatCat became known for music between electronics, folk and indie rock – including Sigur Rós and Múm from Iceland. The Vinyl Room currently has 4 records on FatCat Records.

What makes FatCat Records special?

Campfire and noise: Animal Collective from Baltimore are represented with “Sung Tongs” and “Feels” – campfire-style chants, drums and noise in turn.

From the band’s early days come “Spirit They're Gone Spirit They've Vanished” by Avey Tare and Panda Bear and “Danse Manatee” – FatCat later reissued both albums.
