How often?

Casablanca on vinyl: disco, P-Funk and Kiss

In short: Casablanca was founded in Los Angeles by Neil Bogart in 1973 and became the label of the disco years: Donna Summer, Village People and lots of disco from Munich around Giorgio Moroder. Add the P-Funk of Parliament and the rock band Kiss. The Vinyl Room currently has 76 Casablanca records, mostly from the seventies.

What makes Casablanca special?

Neil Bogart bet on big shows and long dance tracks. The breakthrough came in 1975 with Donna Summer’s “Love to Love You Baby” – recorded in Munich with Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. After that Casablanca brought a lot of disco over from Europe: in our stock Munich Machine, Giorgio and Chris, Alec R. Costandinos with “Trocadero Lemon Blue” and Love & Kisses, or Patrick Juvet with “Lady Night”.

At the same time Casablanca was the home of George Clinton’s Parliament – in our stock “Chocolate City”, “The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein” and “Motor Booty Affair” – and of Kiss, whose “Alive II” we have too. The Village People joined in 1977. Hardly any label stands for the seventies like this one.
