What makes ABC-Paramount special?

When the TV network ABC went into the record business in the mid-fifties, it bet on pop, vocals and jazz. Its biggest coup came in 1959: Ray Charles moved to ABC-Paramount and recorded some of his most famous records here. Two years later the company founded Impulse! – the label on which John Coltrane released “A Love Supreme”.

In our stock you’ll find, among others, Ray Charles’ ABC records “Ray’s Moods” and “Sweet & Sour Tears”. Add fifties jazz – the Billy Taylor Trio, Zoot Sims with “Plays Four Altos”, Art Farmer with Quincy Jones’ orchestra, Lucky Thompson with Oscar Pettiford –, vocals from Eydie Gormé, rhythm & blues from Lloyd Price, pop from Paul Anka and even comedy.
