How often?

ZZ Top on vinyl: Texas blues rock, with beards and hot rods

In short: ZZ Top were founded in Houston in 1969; their classic line-up was Billy Gibbons on guitar, Dusty Hill on bass and Frank Beard on drums. With bone-dry Texas blues, long beards and hot rods they are regarded as one of America’s best-known rock bands. The Vinyl Room currently has 6 ZZ Top records.

What makes ZZ Top special?

In the seventies ZZ Top played raw boogie and blues – “The Best Of ZZ Top” collects those early years. With “Eliminator” (1983) came the big change: synthesizers, drum machines and the MTV videos for “Gimme All Your Lovin’”, “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” made the trio famous worldwide.

“Afterburner” (1985) pushed that sound even further, “Recycler” (1990) brought the band back closer to the blues.
