U2

U2 on vinyl: rock albums and club remixes

In short: U2 from Dublin have been one of the biggest rock bands in the world since the eighties – from the debut “Boy” (1980) via “The Joshua Tree” to “No Line On The Horizon”. Less well known: in the nineties the band had its songs remixed for the clubs. Exactly those 12-inch singles shape our stock. The Vinyl Room currently has 19 U2 records.

What makes U2 special?

Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. know each other from school in Dublin. From 1980 their records came out on Island – “Boy”, “War”, “The Joshua Tree” and “Rattle And Hum” made them world-famous. With “Achtung Baby” (1991), “Zooropa” and “Pop” (1997) the band reinvented itself and opened up to electronic music.

Many 12-inch singles with dance-floor remixes date from that period: “Lemon”, “Discothèque”, “MOFO” or “Last Night On Earth”, later the house and trance mixes of “Elevation” and “Beautiful Day”. We also have albums like “War”, “Boy” and “How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb”.
