Tyler, The Creator

Tyler, The Creator on vinyl: rap, soul and his own colours

In short: Tyler, The Creator’s real name is Tyler Okonma, and he’s from Los Angeles. He became known in the early 2010s with the collective Odd Future; since then he has rapped, produced and arranged his albums himself – between hip-hop, soul and jazz. “Igor” and “Call Me If You Get Lost” each won him the Grammy for best rap album. The Vinyl Room currently has 6 Tyler, The Creator records.

What makes Tyler, The Creator special?

He thinks in whole albums: “Wolf” from 2013 tells its story through characters, “Igor” from 2019 is full of warm synthesizers, soul and distorted vocals.

“Call Me If You Get Lost” from 2021 combines rap with jazzy samples and sounds like a mixtape from a globetrotter’s journey – here in several copies.
