How often?

St Germain on vinyl: where house meets jazz

In short: Behind St Germain is Ludovic Navarre from Paris. In the nineties he combined house with jazz, blues and soul on the F Communications label and is regarded as a pioneer of French house. His album “Tourist” (2000) came out on the jazz label Blue Note. The Vinyl Room currently has 5 St Germain records.

What makes St Germain special?

Club music with a jazz soul: on “Boulevard” (1995) relaxed house beats run under saxophone, flute and Rhodes piano. “Alabama Blues” brings an old blues voice onto the dance floor.

“Sure Thing” comes from the “Tourist” period, with which St Germain became known around the world. And “Muse Q The Music” shows an early collaboration with Shazz and Derek Bays from the Paris house scene.
