Sound Dimension

Sound Dimension on vinyl: the band behind Studio One

In short: In the late sixties Sound Dimension was the house band at Studio One, Coxsone Dodd’s label in Kingston. With musicians such as organist Jackie Mittoo and bassist Leroy Sibbles they played rhythms that new songs are still being sung over today. The Vinyl Room currently has 4 records by Sound Dimension.

What makes Sound Dimension special?

Rhythms for generations: on “Heavy Rock” the band shows its rocksteady groove. Here you’ll mainly find singles on which singers such as Leroy Sibbles or John Holt take the A-side – often followed by a “version” on the B-side.

Plus saxophonist Cedric “Im” Brooks and a single that pairs Bob Marley’s “One Love” with a Sound Dimension recording.
