How often?

Sister Sledge on vinyl: disco and soul from Philadelphia

In short: Sister Sledge were founded by the four sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim and Kathy Sledge from Philadelphia. In 1979 they became world-famous with “We Are Family”, produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of Chic. Into the eighties they brought disco, soul and pop together with warm harmony singing. The Vinyl Room currently has 5 Sister Sledge records.

What makes Sister Sledge special?

Four voices that sound like one – and behind them Nile Rodgers’ springy Chic groove. “Together” (1977) shows the sisters before the big breakthrough, and “Love Somebody Today” (1980) was again made with Rodgers and Edwards.

In the eighties came “All American Girls” (1981) and “The Sisters” (1982), which includes their version of “My Guy”.
