In short: RJD2 – real name Ramble Jon Krohn – is a producer and DJ who made his name in Columbus, Ohio. In the early 2000s he made instrumental hip-hop from samples of old soul and funk records; his track “A Beautiful Mine” became known as the theme of the series “Mad Men”. The Vinyl Room currently has 4 records by RJD2.
New directions: on “The Third Hand” from 2007 RJD2 provides his own vocals and plays many of the instruments – fewer samples, more pop. His first album from 2002 is here too.
Later, “The Colossus” and “More Is Than Isn’t” came out on his own label RJ’s Electrical Connections.
