Michael Jackson on vinyl: from Motown child star to King of Pop

In short: Michael Jackson (1958–2009) started as a child with his brothers at Motown and became one of the biggest pop stars of his time with “Off The Wall” (1979) and “Thriller” (1982). “Thriller” is regarded as the best-selling album of all time. Later came “Bad”, “Dangerous” and “Invincible”. The Vinyl Room currently has 10 Michael Jackson records.

What makes Michael Jackson special?

He combined soul, funk, disco, rock and pop into something of his own – and made dance and video part of the music. We have his early Motown hit “I Wanna Be Where You Are”, “Blame It On The Boogie” with the Jacksons and, of course, “Thriller”.

From the nineties there’s “Remember The Time” and “In The Closet” from “Dangerous” and “Blood On The Dance Floor”, from the 2000s the remixes of “You Rock My World” and “Butterflies”. Plus the collections “The Essential Michael Jackson” and “The Remix Suite” with newly mixed Motown recordings.
