How often?

Massive Attack on vinyl: trip hop from Bristol

In short: Massive Attack come from Bristol and grew out of the sound system The Wild Bunch. With “Blue Lines” (1991) they found a slow, dark sound of hip-hop beats, dub, soul and electronics that was later called trip hop – the band is regarded as one of its pioneers. The Vinyl Room currently has 6 Massive Attack records.

What makes Massive Attack special?

Their music is built on voices and space: deep bass, slow beats, changing singers. “Daydreaming” comes from the “Blue Lines” era, “Inertia Creeps” from the dark “Mezzanine” (1998).

With “Special Cases” and “Butterfly Caught” from the “100th Window” era (2003) the sound became even more electronic and cool. Plus “Dear Friend” with the London poet James Massiah.
