Janko Nilovic on vinyl: library music with groove

In short: Janko Nilovic, born in Istanbul in 1941 and of Montenegrin descent, came to Paris in the sixties and wrote numerous records of library music there – pieces for film, television and advertising. What makes Janko Nilovic special?

Short pieces with great effect: in the “Impressions” series Nilovic changed colours – from the catchy pop of “Pop’ Impressions” via the jazz of “Jazz Impressions” to the groove of “Soul Impressions”.

On “Classical Phases” he and trumpeter Michel Barrot combine classical motifs with jazz. Most of these records came out on the Paris label Editions Montparnasse 2000.
