How often?

Elvis Presley on vinyl: from the movies to Memphis and Las Vegas

In short: Elvis Presley (1935–1977) from Tupelo, Mississippi, became one of the first great stars of rock ’n’ roll in the fifties. In the sixties he mainly made films with their own soundtracks, before returning in the late sixties with new recordings in Memphis and big concerts in Las Vegas. The Vinyl Room currently has 5 Elvis Presley records.

What makes Elvis Presley special?

Hollywood Elvis: “Fun In Acapulco” (1963) and “Frankie And Johnny” (1966) are soundtracks to his films, light songs with plenty of charm. “Almost In Love” collects more film songs.

Then the comeback: in 1969 he recorded songs such as “In The Ghetto” in Memphis – more serious and soulful than much of what came before. The double album “From Memphis To Vegas / From Vegas To Memphis” combines further recordings from these Memphis sessions with live recordings of his 1969 concerts in Las Vegas.
