Earth, Wind & Fire

Earth, Wind & Fire on vinyl: funk with horns and a message

In short: Earth, Wind & Fire, led by Maurice White, combined soul, funk, jazz and African sounds – with a big horn section, Philip Bailey’s falsetto and spiritual lyrics. With spectacular shows, the band is regarded as one of the most successful soul groups of the seventies. The Vinyl Room currently has 7 Earth, Wind & Fire records.

What makes Earth, Wind & Fire special?

The early Columbia albums show the band still jazzy and searching: “Last Days And Time” (1972), “Head To The Sky” (1973) and “Open Our Eyes” (1974). “Gratitude” (1975) combines live recordings with new studio tracks and captures the energy of their concerts.

“Faces” (1980) is a double album from the time of the big hits, and “The Best Of Earth Wind & Fire Vol. II” collects tracks from the seventies and eighties.
