Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan on vinyl: six decades of songs

In short: Bob Dylan, born in Minnesota in 1941, came to New York as a folk singer in the early sixties and changed what a song can be. With “Highway 61 Revisited” (1965) and “Like A Rolling Stone” he brought folk and rock together. In 2016 he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. The Vinyl Room currently has 12 Bob Dylan records.

What makes Bob Dylan special?

Dylan has never settled for long: folk, electric rock, country, gospel, old American standards. We have his debut “Bob Dylan” (1962), “Highway 61 Revisited”, the gospel album “Saved” (1980), “Infidels” (1983), which he produced with Mark Knopfler, and “Empire Burlesque” (1985).

From recent years we have “Triplicate” (2017), a triple album of songs from the Great American Songbook, and “Rough And Rowdy Ways” (2020). Almost all his studio albums came out on Columbia, outside the US often with a CBS label.
