How often?

Beirut on vinyl: brass, chanson and indie folk

In short: Beirut is the project of Zach Condon from Santa Fe, New Mexico. With trumpet, ukulele and a warm, melancholy voice he combines Balkan brass, French chanson and indie folk – songs that sound like travel. The Vinyl Room currently has 5 Beirut records.

What makes Beirut special?

Wanderlust as sound: the debut “Gulag Orkestar” (2006) is full of brass and Eastern European melodies, and “The Flying Club Cup” (2007) bows to French chanson. On “March Of The Zapotec” Condon plays with a brass band from Mexico.

Later the songs became clearer and closer to pop: “The Rip Tide” (2011) and “No No No” (2015).
