What makes Habibi Funk special?

Morocco’s Fadoul sang funk in the spirit of James Brown in Arabic – “Al Zman Saib” is raw and gripping. From Sudan come Sharhabil Ahmed with “The King Of Sudanese Jazz” and The Scorpions with singer Saif Abu Bakr and “Jazz, Jazz, Jazz”. Algeria’s Ahmed Malek wrote the film music on “Musique Originale De Films”.

From Lebanon come Rogér Fakhr with “Fine Anyway” and Issam Hajali with “Mouasalat Ila Jacad El Ard”, from Egypt Al Massrieen with “Modern Music”, from Libya Ahmed Ben Ali with “Subhan” and from Tunisia Carthago with “Alech”. The best overview is the collection “Habibi Funk: An Eclectic Selection Of Music From The Arab World”.
