Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder on vinyl: from child prodigy to soul innovator

In short: Stevie Wonder joined Motown at eleven and had his first big hit as Little Stevie Wonder with “Fingertips”. In the seventies he recorded a run of albums – “Talking Book”, “Innervisions”, “Fulfillingness’ First Finale” and “Songs in the Key of Life” – that expanded soul, often playing almost every instrument himself. The Vinyl Room currently has 15 Stevie Wonder records.

What makes Stevie Wonder special?

Even as a child he sang and played harmonica, piano and drums – “The 12 Year Old Genius” is the live album from that time. The sixties brought soul hits like “I Was Made To Love Her”. From the seventies Wonder produced his own records, used synthesizers early on and combined soul, funk, jazz and pop.

In our stock you’ll find “Talking Book” and “Fulfillingness’ First Finale” from that great period, plus the unusual “Journey Through The Secret Life Of Plants”, the soundtrack “The Woman In Red” with “I Just Called to Say I Love You”, “In Square Circle”, “Characters” and “A Time 2 Love” from 2005.
